Axist, together with the ITS Foundation, collaborated on the VEAR project, for the reverse engineering of a human ear.

A large-scale mock-up of the inside of the human ear was used, which was available at the Medicine Turin’ University of.
The scan was carried out with a FARO anthropomorphic arm equipped with a stripe laser head, using a software (Polyworks) capable of collecting large amounts of information and analyzing and processing the point clouds obtained.
At the end of the scanning activity, a polygonal model is returned, which is completely realistic, and which will serve as a starting point for obtaining a 3D solid model, operating on dedicated CAD stations.

The comparison between the CAD surfaces obtained and the original point cloud provides a numerical indication of the fidelity of the final result.
